Dozens of countries have condemned the recent nuclear weapons tests in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Foreign ministers from more than 40 signatories of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty attended Wednesday's meeting calling for the treaty's ratification. They issued a joint statement urging the DPRK to stop its nuclear tests.

Following this, South Korea's special nuclear envoy, Kim Hong-kyun, met his Chinese counterpart, Wu Dawei, in Beijing on Thursday to discuss a response to the DPRK's latest nuclear test.
