The implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has been a major theme at this year’s U.N. General Assembly. Li said many of today’s problems cannot be solved without development.

To help deal with the refugee crisis, Li has promised a total of U.S.$300 million in assistance funding. He also met with U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Li said economic and trade cooperation is a key factor of the bilateral relationship, and called for swifter investment treaty negotiations.

Britain’s Hinkley Point nuclear power plant project was also a highlight of Li’s trip, as he met with French President Francois Hollande. The two leaders pledged to work together to ensure that the project moves forward smoothly.
