Just like Boston's baseball franchise has been unbeatable lately, the same remains true of the area's football team. The New England Patriots won their first two games of the new season without star quarterback Tom Brady, who is suspended four contests for the "Deflate-Gate" controversy, but his replacement Jimmy Garoppolo injured his shoulder last weekend. That left the Pats leaning on rookie Jacoby Brissett to fill in as they hosted the Houston Texans.

The first rookie signal caller to start for New England in 23 years would score a 27-yard rushing touchdown, putting the hosts up 10-0 in the first quarter. After kicker Stephen Gostkowski's second field goal, LaGarrette Blount punches the ball in from a yard out to make it 20-0 at half-time. Blount rumbles 41 yards for another TD in the fourth Q, as the Patriots win 27-0. The Pats improve to 3-0, while the Texans fall to 2-1, suffering their first shutout in 13 years.
