The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is warning of what it calls 'military counteraction'. This comes in the wake of the US sending two strategic bombers to South Korea in a show of force against Pyongyang.

A spokesman for the DPRK military on Thursday called the move a "military provocation". Pyongyang claims such provocations have escalated the situation on the peninsula to a phase of an "outbreak of a nuclear war".

One day earlier, the U.S. flew two B-1 Lancer aircraft over Osan Air Base south of Seoul. They were escorted by fighter jets from South Korea's air force. It's the second time this month that US bombers flew over South Korea, after the DPRK conducted its fifth nuclear test on September the 9th.
