The first official debate ahead of the election is set for Hofstra University in New York next Monday night.

The Commission on Presidential Debates sets the format for the discussion. The first debate will be divided into six segments of approximately 15 minutes -- with two segments on each of these three topics: America's Direction; Achieving Prosperity; and Securing America.

The moderator will be Lester Holt from NBC. More than one hundred million people are expected to tune in for the debate. The election will be on Tuesday, November 8th.
