Tibetan delegation visit Latvia

09-24-2016 17:27 BJT

A cultural delegation from the Tibet Autonomous Region visited Latvia earlier this week.

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Latvia's parliament, Ojars Eriks Kalnins, said the Baltic country respected China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He added that the visit was indeed timely, as their bilateral relations have seen rapid development in recent years.

Chairman of the Latvia-China Friendship Group, Sergejs Potapkins said the visit presented a rare opportunity for Latvians to connect directly with the people of Tibet.

During a seminar involving representatives from the Latvian community, Chinese delegates discussed many topics, including the region's economic and social development; the preservation of its culture and language; and the reincarnation system of the living Buddhas.
