The International Committee of the Red Cross says 70 trucks of humanitarian aid have been delivered on Sunday to four besieged towns in Syria for the first time in almost six months.

The aid organisation said convoys made deliveries to Madaya and Zabdani near Damascus and to the villages of al Foua and Kefraya in the northwestern Idlib province.

The towns have been besieged by Syrian government-allied forces or insurgents for around six months.

Last Thursday, UN relief operations in Syria resumed after a suspension due to an attack on an aid convoy in western Aleppo.
