At this year's Hockey World Cup, Team Europe would meet Sweden in the semi-finals. The winner would meet Canada in the championship round.

The Swedes were hoping to get to the three-game title series, and avenge a loss to the Canadians in the final of the Olympics two-years ago. While Tomas Tatar and the continental squad, were trying to get into the final of the event for the first time ever.

A full-house at the Air Canada centre in Toronto on hand for this one.

No scoring in the first, so we head to the second, the Swedes in blue win a face-off in the offensive zone and Anton Stralman's shot from the side boards is stopped by Jaroslav Halak, but Nicklas Backstrom is there to whack it home. Tre Kronor lead 1-zip.

The Euros, an amalgamation of players from 8 countries would tie things late in the period, Christain Erhoff's centering pass is swatted home by Slovak Marian Gaborik, whose shot just trickles through Henrik Lundqvist. 1-1 game.

Off to the third, and on the opening shift, Tomas Tatar tests Lundqvist, who makes a glove save, but cannot control the rebound. 2-1 continentals.

The Swedes would press and have the opposition hemmed in their own zone -- and Erik Karlsson's point shot finds its way through a maze in front. Roman Josi redirects it into his own net -- tying the game and forcing overtime.

And in the extra session, the Euros forechecking, Lundqvist can't play the puck behind his net, and Mats Zuccarello fires a pass in front, that Tatar is able to re-direct into the net. Team Europe grabs a 3-2 win over Sweden, and is heading to the final. Or are they?

While the continentals celebrate, the goal is reviewed to see if Tatar kicked it in, hard to see on the replay -- but it looks like the puck ricocheted off his lef skate and went in.

The refs say that is was not directed in with a 'distinct kicking motion' so the goal stand, and Europe is off to meet Canada in the three-game final series.
