Industry experts are responding positively to the Chinese government's fresh guidelines for the venture capital sector. The experts say the guidelines will help boost funding for innovation companies, while protecting venture capital investors.

"China is improving policies to ensure more smooth exit channels for venture capitals, and broaden sources of investment. The guidelines would play a positive role in pushing forward entrepreneurship and innovation," said Liu Shijin, Deputy Chief, China Development Research Foundation.

Experts say that by shortening the post-listing equity lock-up period for long-term VC investors, the guidelines will ward off speculators. The guidelines will also help turn innovation-based companies into mature market players.

Meanwhile, experts say upgrading the local government financing platforms into venture capital firms is also a bright spot for the new policy mix. They say that's because it will help broaden sources of investment for cash-hungry start-ups.
