President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, has said that the upcoming joint military exercise with the United States will be the last between the two allies.

Starting on Monday, the Philippine military and US Marines are due to hold 9 days of exercises, in the north of the Philippines' main island Luzon. Duterte has also ruled out joint naval patrols.

However, the country's foreign minister said the Philippines will go ahead with joint military exercises in 2017 with the United States, but the holding of war games from 2018 onwards would be reviewed.
