China's Golden Week starts on October 1st, and this year will see a record number of people taking advantage of their time off of work. The Chinese Tourism Academy estimates that nearly 700 million passanger trips will be travelling to domestic and overseas destinations this year. Beijing expects to receive more than 10 million visitors. Beijing has also put up decorations along its famous Chang'an Boulevard. Travel is expected to peak from October first to the third and from October sixth to the seventh.
This year, more people will be travelling by railway and car. Around 110 million passaner trips are expected for train travel, an increase of more than 11 percent from 2015. Toll roads will be free of charge for passenger cars with 7 seats or less. The Ministry of Transport has reminded passengers to avoid peak travel times and to plan their travel routes before leaving home.
