For more on US involvement in the region and to discuss relations between China and ASEAN, we're joined in the studio by Teng Jianqun, the director of the Center of Arms Control at the China Institute of International Studies.

Q1. The US has been been pursuing its pivot to Asia policy for several years now, and says it will further increase its military presence in the region.  What is the purpose of this and what effect will it have?

Q2. China says countries that are not directly involved in South China Sea disputes should not interfere. Some countries say this aims to divide ASEAN. Is that so? How should we view the relationship between China and ASEAN on this matter?
