In South Korea, villagers are protesting against the choice of a new site for the deployment of America's THAAD anti-missile system. This comes after the Ministry of National Defense designated a golf course in Seongju County as the new location on Friday.

The original plan in July at an artillery base in the region also triggered continuous protests. The new site is about 18 kilometers from the center of Seongju County. But the 156 residents of a nearby village say they will be severely affected and they will continue to fight against the deployment.

"Our village is within two kilometers of the golf course. The electromagnetic waves could affect areas within a radius of 3.6 kilometers, within which people could no longer live normally. We have no choice but to fight to the end," Head of village Lee Sukzu said.
