Apple says it will set up a research and development center in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen next year.

Apple chief executive, Tim Cook, announced the plan during a meeting with senior officials from Shenzhen, where he is attending an innovation event.

The facility will promote collaboration and support talent development across China. Earlier in August, Cook said Apple is planning to open a similar facility in the Chinese capital.
