As the second straight pre-season meeting of the Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans was held in Beijing. The teams are here as part of the NBA Global Games and played in Shanghai on Sunday in a close contest won by Yao Ming's former squad, the Rockets. That meant the Pels were looking for a bit of redemption in the Chinese capital, but when their best player Anthony Davis goes down early, they would have much more to worry about.

James Harden had 26 points and 15 assists to lead Houston to victory on Sunday.

He would add 14 points and eight assists this night including that lob to KJ McDaniels early in the first quarter.

But the main story of the night would be about Davis. The big man slips and goes down awkwardly, immediately grasping his ankle and in obvious pain.  Davis appears to step on Nene's foot and then twist his right ankle. He would not return.

But Harden knows the show must go on.

And Houston would pull away with the raucous crowd cheering them on, as the bearded on slices through for an uncontested lay-up to make it 48-23 Rockets.

Harden would be rested for the second half but Houston go on to win 116-104, their second straight victory in China, which may have been disastrous for New Orleans who are only focused on Davis.

"I don't know any technical terms. I know is just it's an ankle sprain. I don't know what grade it is anything, I haven't be able to talk to the trainers yet," said New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry.

"The atmosphere was tough after Davis got hurt, he has kind of turned his ankle, and then got checked up a little bit. I thought overall it was a great trip for us, we got a lot of things done. We are ready to go home," said Houston Rockets coach Mike D'antoni.
