And over in Hong Kong, the cast and crew of Marvel's controversial superhero film 'Doctor Strange' is on a publicity tour in Asia. And Hong Kong is their first stop. Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the title role, led the cast to meet some adoring fans in the city.

Hong Kong had a lot of love for Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton.

The stars of new superhero adventure "Doctor Strange" were cheered on by over a thousand fans on Thursday evening.

Hong Kong is the first stop on the movie's promotional tour because the city plays an integral part in the story. However, filming didn't take place in the Asian hub, which was recreated in London with the help of special effects.

Cumberbatch said he wished he had the chance to shoot on location.

"You know, we're thrilled to be here in person. Unfortunately because, as you'll see, the section you (Hong Kong) appear in is quite complex and we couldn't have done it in the flesh here. But I wish we had done it - it's a lot warmer here than it was in England. But, you know, it's a huge part of the story and I hope it remains that way and it's just very exciting to begin our journey launching this film to the world here," said Cumberbatch.

"I'm very happy to be here. I'm only over here for a very short time, but it's a wonderful to be here. Yeah, short but sweet," said actress Tilda Swinton.

Adapted from the Marvel comic of the same name, the film tells the story of Doctor Strange, a top neurosurgeon whose hands are damaged during a car accident. As he embarks on a healing journey, he meets a mystical monk, the Ancient One who teaches him how to manipulate reality.

The publicity tour of "Doctor Strange" will continue in Shanghai. The movie opens in Hong Kong on Oct. 26.
