Eighty-five members of Japan parliament have visited the controversial Yasukuni Shrine for the war dead. The group visit came a day after Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a ritual offering to the shrine.

The shrine honors Japan's war dead, including 14 convicted Class A war criminals from World War Two. China and South Korea have consistently urged Japan to stick to the truth and deeply reflect on the history of its invasion after such visits and offerings.  Both countries see the shrine as a symbol of Japan's past militarism.
