Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has arrived for a four-day visit to the country. China is the first country Duterte has visited outside the ASEAN bloc since he took office in June.
It comes at a time of fractious relations between the two countries, following the recent South China Sea arbitration case which was unilaterally filed by Duterte's predecessor. The Chinese foreign minister, Wang Yi greeted the Philippine president and his large delegation upon their arrival.
