The 11th China Arts Festival opened on Saturday in Xi'an, in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. Some of the country's best artistic creations and performances are being presented in numerous venues across the provincial capital as part of the festival. And one of the highlights is an original drama called "Taipei Bride", which showcases the deep bond between the people across the Strait.

Taipei Bride tells the story of a girl who falls in love with a boy from Taiwan and follows him all the way to his hometown.

And the touching story seems to resonate well with the audience.

"The staging, the music and the actor's performance, everthing is just perfect."

"I'm really moved by the love and family bond demonstrated in the play. So touching."

"It's been such an honor to present this play at this year's China Arts Festival. And the audience's applause makes all the hard work worth it," said Xiao Qiaoting, actress of Taipei Bride.

The director says he was inspired by the over 300,000 brides who have travelled to Taiwan in pursuit love or a new life.

"We want to present a quality show to the audience, to show the bond of the people across the Strait. That we are of the same blood," said Wang Xiangmin, director of Taipei Bride.

The China Arts Festival is being hosted by China's Ministry of Culture and the Shaanxi provincial government. The festival aims to guide and promote the development of contemporary art in the country.
