Vietnam will receive three Chinese warships from Saturday at its newly opened Cam Ranh international port from Saturday to Wednesday.

The visit will be the first by Chinese navy ships to Cam Ranh, located in Khanh Hoa Province. Provincial officials will hold a ceremony welcoming the 750 Chinese military personnel. The personnel will also participate in activities with Vietnam's Navy.

Vessels from the U.S. paid a visit to the same port in September, almost 21 years after the two countries normalised ties. Russia also said Moscow is considering plans to restore Soviet-era bases in Vietnam.

But Vietnam said it will not allow other countries to set up military bases there.
