Three Chinese warships along with hundreds of military personnel arrived at Vietnam's newly opened Cam Ranh international port on Saturday.

These are the first Chinese ships to visit Cam Ranh in the Khánh Hòa province. The 750 service men will hold exchanges with the Vietnamese navy during their stay until Wednesday.

Vessels from the U.S. paid a visit to the same port in September, almost 21 years after the two countries normalised ties.

Russia also said Moscow is considering plans to restore Soviet-era bases in Vietnam. But Hanoi said it will not allow other countries to set up military bases there.
