And the verdict has finally been delivered. The Wulong Scenic Area in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has won a lawsuit against the studio of the latest Transformers installment on Thursday for failing to feature a product placement for the area in the movie.

According to the court's decision, the makers of the popular film franchise were ordered to pay compensation of more than two million yuan, or around 300,000 USD to the Wulong Scenic Area. The court also rejected the counterclaim by the film makers. Lawyers for both companies said that they will decide whether to appeal the verdict later.

Transformers 4 was a tremendous hit in China, grossing 320-million USD. One of the key scenes in the film was shot at a scenic area in Wulong. The Chongqing Wulong Karst Tourism Group signed a deal with producers of the movie in 2013. The production companies promised to display the scenic spot's logo in the movie, but it was nowhere to be seen when the film hit the big screen in June 2014. The Chongqing Wulong Karst Tourism Group filed the lawsuit in July 2014, accusing Paramount Pictures and 1905 Internet Technology of violating the terms of their contract.
