The UN General Assembly has re-elected China as a member of the organisation's next Human Rights Council. In response to the announcement, China's Foreign Ministry said that China will strictly fulfil its obligations and promote cooperation on international human rights issues.
"China's re-election as a member of the UN Human Rights Council, is proof of the recognition from the international community towards the country's improvements in Human Rights issues and the active role China plays in international human rights communication and cooperation. It also gives China an important platform for further involvement in international cooperation on human rights," said Hua Chunying, spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry.
