At the Zhuhai Airshow, the public witnessed the debut of the AG-600, a large scale amphibious aircraft with a proprietary Chinese design.

The assembling of the plane displayed at the show was finished at July in Zhuhai. With a top half as a plane and a bottom half that resembles a ship.

The AG-600 is China's first large scale amphibious aircraft that can perform such tasks as ocean transportation and rescue missions.

With a size similar to a Boeing 737, the plane is the biggest amphibious aircraft in the world.

"This plane will be a great contribution to China's emergency rescue system. We have a long coastline and China has joined the International Maritime Organization. So the government has incorporated the usage of this plane into the 13th 5-year plan. We are not worried about market potentials." said AG-600 Project Adminstrative Office's deputy director Qu Jingwen.
