Analysts say Fed should raise rates before year-end

Analysts say the Fed isn't under pressure to move on rates so close to the start of voting in the U.S. presidential election.

Some analysts say the Fed members have concluded they should raise rates before the end of the year, but will wait until they're no longer sharing the stage with the White House candidates.

Some say a December hike is arguable. That's because the economy isn't firmly picking up, just like the situation last December.

Still, the real market consensus is that there's a 93 percent chance the Fed won't raise rates this week and a 73 percent chance it will in December.
