South Korean prosecutors have detained a former presidential aide amid the political scandal that is rocking the presidency.
Prosecutors say former senior advisor Ahn Jong-beom is facing allegations of forcing South Korean conglomerates to donate funds to non-profit foundations.
Ahn told reporters outside prosecution offices that he would take responsibility for his actions but declined to elaborate. Ahn was placed under emergency detention.
Under South Korean law, prosecutors have 48 hours to seek an arrest warrant from a court.
