The 16th Western China International Fair has started in the southwestern province of Sichuan. The fair has long served as an important platform for promoting trade and investment in China's western region.

7 years ago, FAW-Volkswagen launched a subsidiary that brought German automotive technology to western China.

In the first three quarters of this year, production reached a 7-year high, increasing 17 percent year-on-year.

"We produce more than 2200 vehicles per day, which means each minute two vehicles roll off the production line. The efficiency is the highest of any FAW-Volkswagen factory." said DIR of manufacturing Wei Qinang, from FAW-Volkswagen factory in Chengdu.

The factory brought automated manufacturing techniques and more than 70 auto-parts enterprises to Sichuan. Now under China's Made in China 2025 plan, and Germany's Industry 4.0 strategy, more cooperation is coming ahead.

When it comes to manufacturing, Germany is one of the most competitive in the world. More than 1,200 German enterprises have a leading position in the global market. As the guest of honor in this year's Western China International Fair, Germany not only brought many prominent entrepreneurs to China, but also numerous projects, exhibitions and ideas.

More than 9000 enterprises from 76 countries and China are participating in the event, including BMW, Daimler, and Huawei. In the spotlight this year are science and technology-based industries from the EU, and regions represented in China's Belt and Road Initiative.

The fair is the biggest portal for the opening-up of western China. Sichuan Province is Germany's most important trading partner in China's west. Imports and exports reached $1.7 billion last year.

In addition, Germany is the largest trading partner with Sichuan Province within the EU. Currently, 97 companies have set up businesses in the province, including 20 Fortune 500 companies, such as Bayer and Siemens. Liu Yang CCTV Sichuan Province.
