China appoints three new ministers

China’s top legislature on Monday appointed three new leaders for state security, civil affairs, and finance.

Xiao Jie, deputy secretary general of the State Council, was named the country’s top finance official. Xiao replaces Lou Jiwei, who had been in the position since March 2013.

Chen Wenqing was appointed minister of state security, replacing Geng Huichang. Meanwhile, the country’s previous supervision minister, Huang Shuxian was appointed as the new head of civil affairs.
