A Chinese designer has won one of the world's most prestigious design awards in Japan. Shi Xiaoxi won the Best 100 at the 2016 Tokyo Good Design Award with the world's first pair of 3-dimensional knitted shoes. The featherweight designs save around 80 per cent of manpower compared to traditional shoe manufacturing techniques.
