John Higgins went up against Judd Trump in the group finals of the WPBSA Champion of Champions on Thursday. The all British encounter would be one of particular significance for China as the winner would set up a semi-final meeting with the in-form Ding Junhui.

Higgins gets the better of the exchanges early on and after taking a 73- nil lead in two breaks he eventually wins the first frame 80-53.

The Scotsman continues to press in the 2nd. Trailing 24-4, Higgins doesn't waste the chance to get a century and a run of 112 gives him a 2-nothing lead.

Trump comes back into the contest, winning the next two frames in convincing fashion. Higgins doesn't register a single point as Juddanaught draws level.

Higgins takes the 5th frame and when Trump misses this red in the 6th the man from Sheffield loses a golden opportunity to get back on level terms.

The former world number one establishes his dominance and takes advantage of the error to win the frame 75-55 and go up 4-2.

Higgins races to a 45-0 lead in the 7th and Trump fails to find a way back after coming up short on this red. The 41-year-old takes it 135-0.

Trump saves match point twice can't stop Higgins wrapping up proceedings in the 10th with a break of 143. 6-4 is how it ends, up next from him is Ding Junhui.
