CBA: Franklin scores 61 points in triple-double for Brave Dragons

The Beijing Ducks visited the Shanxi Brave Dragons on Sunday night. The Ducks came in on a four-game winning streak, but would be missing Stephon Marbury due to a thigh injury.

And it would be another American taking charge on this night as Shanxi's Jamaal Franklin goes off for a silly triple-double.

And Franklin goes to work right away as the 25 year old drives in and finishes with a floater to tie it at 2.

The American import continues to attack the lane as Franklin slices in for another deuce giving Shanxi a six point lead.

Beijing try to counter with the long ball as veteran Zhang Qingpeng beats the shot clock with a triple.

The Ducks led by two after the first quarter, but Franklin puts Shanxi back on top with a three.

Franklin can also facilitate as he tosses up the lob for Samuel Dalembert who completes the alley-oop and the hosts lead by one point.

With 2.8 second left in the first half, Franklin is going to pick off the long inbounds pass and then calmly take it the other way where he heaves a running shot that finds the net. Franklin had 6 threes and 34 points in the first two quarters alone.

But Beijing are going nowhere and would lead by four after Randolph Morris scores as part of his team high 29 points and 12 rebounds.

Franklin continues his onslaught in the fourth quarter as he hits another from the land beyond giving Shanxi a seven point lead.

With two minutes to go, Franklin would nail another triple to finish with 61 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists leading Shanxi to a 125-114 victory.


Also on Sunday, Josh Smith made his debut for the Sichuan Blue Whales against the Guangzhou Long-Lions.

The hosts would take the lead early on. Samad Bahrami connects from distance putting Guangzhou up by 2. The Long Lions lead 26-18 after the first quarter.

Smith still finding his place on his new team and the American shows his skills driving in for a dunk. He would have 6 points and 7 rebounds this night.

To the fourth quarter with Guangzhou ahead by 2. Sichuan center Hamed Haddadi is going to get the rebound and then put it back while getting fouled. Regulation ends tied at 81-81 so we need overtime.

Guangzhou lead by two with 15 seconds to go. Liu Wei hits the floater in the lane, but the first OT ends 90-90 so a second is needed.

Liu takes over in the 2nd extra period as the veteren adds three points early on.

Then he finds Haddadi and the Iranian pockets two off the glass.

Guangzhou fail to come back and 103-97 is the final.

Also on Sunday, Zhejiang beat Bayi on the road. Beikong edged Tianjin by 2. Xinjiang beat Jiangsu at home.

Tongxi were defeated at home by Qingdao. Liaoning outclassed Jilin. Shanghai beat Shenzhen. Guangdong thrashed Fujian. And Guangsha get past Shandong by two.
