Hundreds of colourful dragon boats from all over Cambodia convened on the Tonle Sap river in Phnom Penh on Sunday to take part in races which celebrate the river's annual change of direction.

The event also recalls Cambodia's history of defeating its enemies using boats. A total of 257 boats took part in the races, with King Norodom Sihamoni also watching the action.
