China has said Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China, its affairs are China's internal affairs and other countries should not interfere. The Chinese Foreign Ministry was responding to Yau Wai-ching, a Hong Kong pro-independence advocate, who sent a mail to the British Foreign Ministry about her cause.
"The pro-independence forces' attempt to separate Hong Kong from China is against the law and the people's will, and damages China's sovereignty and security and the interests of Hong Kong," said Geng Shuang, spokesperson, Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"It has touched the bottom line of the one country, two systems principle. People who want to use foreign power to reach their own political purposes won't achieve their goals."
