A cold snap and temperature drop is moving towards north China, which will help disperse smog that has blanketed the region.

The National Meteorological Center said the region will see temperatures drop by 12 degrees Celsius or more. Heavy snow is expected to hit Beijing over the weekend. The snowfall, to end late Monday night, will be followed by strong wind and a significant temperature decline of 8 to 10 degrees next week. The public is advised to stay warm when going outdoors and be aware of icy roads.
