Chinese First Lady, Peng Liyuan, has visited a school with Chinese roots in the Peruvian capital, Lima. During the visit to the Colegio Peruano Chino Juan 23rd school, students spoke and sang in Chinese and demonstrated calligraphy and paper cutting. There were also displays of kung fu and fan dancing for Peng Liyuan and her Peruvian counterpart, Nancy Lange.

Peng donated musical instruments and stationery to the school, praising its role in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Peru. Founded in 1962, 60 per cent of the school's 1,600 students are of Chinese origin and classes are conducted in both Chinese and Spanish.
