We got the views of a number of prominent business figures in Chile ahead of President Xi's visit to the country.

"We sincerely welcome President Xi Jinping to our country. It's a new chapter for our relations. He managed to fit in a visit to Chile in a tight schedule which shows that China attaches great importance to our ties," Mauricio Rodriguez Kogan with Chile Asia-Pacific Foundation said.

"I've watched many speeches by President Xi about innovation. I think it can be a key word for the new era of relations between China and Latin America. Countries should learn from what he has said about promoting innovation," Juan Esteban Musalem, president of Chie-China Cultural Association, said.

"During his visit he will hold talks with Chilean people from all walks of life. It's very important for us. Chile is an export-oriented country, with nearly 20 percent of the volume going to China. As crucial partners, the two countries should work closer on economic and trade ties," Eduardo Goycoolea, CEO of New World Currents Seafood, said.
