Social media platforms like Facebook have been criticized by western mainstream media, following the US presidential election result.

A number of western media outlets say false information  on social media sites helped derail Hillary Clinton's campaign. One fake news story in Facebook said the Pope supported Trump. Another said Clinton had filed for divorce.

The Wall Street Journal says Facebook should hire more employees to identify and delete false information being spread on its site.
