State Council sets up investigation team

The power plant accident has killed 74 in east China's Jiangxi Province. The State Council has established an investigation team to look into the deadly incident. A press conference on the accident has been held this morning. 

"After the rescue work at site concluded, we shifted our focus to coping with the aftermath. As of 8 AM, over 300 family members of 59 victims had arrived in Yichun," said Mayor Zhang Xiaoping, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province.

On Thursday, a platform for a power plant cooling tower that was under construction collapsed in Yichun City. More than 60 people were working on the platform and a dozen more were on the ground waiting for their 7 AM shifts to begin.

So far, authorities have confirmed the identity of 68 of the dead workers. The youngest was 23 and the oldest 53. It's the most serious accident in China this year. 13 people involved in the construction project are in police custody.
