Syrian state media have said that government forces have recaptured the largest rebel-held district of Aleppo.
SANA news agency said government troops retook full control of Masaken Hanano and the area around the district on Saturday. And, "army engineers are clearing bombs and planted explosives" in the streets and squares. But one rebel group said fighting was still underway on the edges of the district.
Masaken Hanano was the first district that fell into the hands of rebels in 2012. Fully recapturing the district would be a major breakthrough in the government's offensive to retake Aleppo.
