China has released new guidelines to better protect property rights, to shore up social confidence and promote social justice. The guidelines were issued by the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council.

They say the country will provide equal, comprehensive and law-based protection for all kinds of property rights and encourage public participation in the process. Although China has worked to protect property rights, there are still many problems, including infringement on private property by public authorities and weak protection of intellectual property rights.

The guidelines vow to enhance protection on non-public properties according to the criminal law. It says unresolved property-rights cases should be dealt with, and an accountability system will be implemented to guard against improper court decisions.
