32 killed, 149 rescued after gas explosion in Northern China

At least 32 people are dead after a gas explosion at a coal mine in the city of Chifeng in northern China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Saturday.

One-hundred forty-nine people have been rescued. The municipal government of Chifeng has dispatched hundreds of police officers and medical staff to the site.

A base for rescue operations has been established and authorities are reaching out to the families of the victims.
