On Nov. 17-23, Chinese President Xi Jinping is paying a state visit to Ecuador, Peru and Chile. During the tour, he is scheduled to attend the 24th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Lima. It’s Xi’s first visit after the Sixth Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee and his third visit to Latin America (LatAm) since he took office in 2013. His ongoing tour is of great significance.Xi’s LatAm trip aims to enhance friendship and deepen cooperation. During the past couple of days, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Ecuador has become a major event for the equatorial country in South America. Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa greeted his Chinese counterpart at the airport in Quito with  a grand welcoming ceremony on Thursday. The two heads of state held talks on the same day and  agreed to lift bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Xi’s visit to Ecuador is the first stop of his three-nation LatAm trip, and the first of its kind since  the two countries established diplomatic relations 36 years ago. His ongoing tour is of historic significance.  read more >>

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday delivered a keynote address, “Enhanced Partnership for Greater Momentum of Growth” at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Peru's capital Lima. The speech was praised by delegates, arousing positive feedbacks.

Xi put forward the four-point proposal to promote an integrated economy, enhance connectivity, boost reform and innovation and forge strong partnership, charting the direction for building an Asia-Pacific community of shared future.   read more >>

Chinese President Xi Jinping held a state visit to Peru, a country dubbed the Andean Eagle on Monday. Xi and his Peruvian counterpart, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski held talks.

Xi also delivered a speech at the Peruvian Congress titled, ‘Working together to build a better future for China-Latin American relations’, drawing a blueprint for better cooperation, and opening up a new start for China-LatAm cooperation.  read more >>

At the invitation of Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Chile on November 22.

The two heads of state held talks and reached important consensus on inheriting the friendship and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. Both sides unanimously agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.  read more >>
