Freezing temperatures and heavy fog have generated a stunning winter scene in the city of Hailar, in northeastern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The natural wonder appeared yesterday as a heavy fog had just retreated in the early morning. It was a feast for the eyes of residents and visitors there during this otherwise monotonous season.

The dreamlike frosty phenomenon is a typical winter scene caused by the rapid freezing of water droplets on impact with a cold object.
