1.5 bln tons of coal saved in the past decade

According to China’s National Development and Reform Commission, 1.5 billion tons of standard coal have been saved, which is equivalent to cutting close to 3.6 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. From 2006 to 2010, national policies on cutting energy usage and pollution were mainly applied to heavy industries.

Improving energy efficiency, shutting down polluting factories and using clean energy were among the measures taken. But from 2011 to 2015, policymakers have shifted their focus to big cities. More and more citizens are awared of the importance of low carbon.
