A Libyan passenger plane has landed in Malta after apparently being hijacked. 118 people are believe to be on board the Afriqiyah Airways aircraft, which had been flying from Sebha in southwest Libya to the capital Tripoli.

The Times of Malta newspaper says two hijackers threatened to blow the plane up. Malta's Prime Minister Joseph Muscat says he has been alerted to a "potential hijack" situation.
