In northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 200 people have taken part in a swimming competition. Nothing unusual in that, you might think but this particular plunge took place in temperatures of almost minus 30 degrees Celsius.
200 swimmers brave icy waters of northern China
Famous as China's northernmost winter swimming resort, Halar sees temperatures fall below zero for more than half the year.
The annual swim takes place in waters where the temperature is usually between -29℃ and -37 ℃ and where the ice is around 1.5 meters thick.
