Hollywood star Debbie Reynolds died of stroke Wednesday at the age of 84, one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher's death.

Reynolds and her son Todd were making funeral plans for Carrie before being rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills early afternoon after a possible stroke. Todd said his mother wanted to be with Carrie.

Reynolds' performance in "Singing in the Rain" and many other musicals turned her into America's Sweetheart during the late Golden Age of Hollywood. "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" won her an Oscar nomination for the Best Actress in a Leading Role in 1965.

Reynolds and Hollywood actor Eddie Fisher married in 1955 and had two children, Carrie and Todd, before divorcing in 1959.

Reynolds' daughter Carrie Fisher, the actress best known as Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" movie franchise, died at the age of 60 on Tuesday morning, after suffering a heart attack on a flight last Friday.
