"Tibet in the Heaven—Joint Exhibition of Top Tibetan Thangka Works" opened January 7 at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. The exhibition presents both the tradition and innovation of Thangka art in Tibet, and it has attracted many art lovers.

The many outstanding works displayed were created by artists from Tibet, including Thangka specialists.Thangka—a traditional painting form that is unique to Tibet—is often referred to as“the encyclopedia of Tibetan culture,”and is a valuable cultural heritage of traditional art in China.

Works at the exhibition feature distinctive characteristics—a rigorous painting style, delicate strokes, composed and thick color application—and they are of very high artistic value.

The exhibition runs until January 18.
