BONN, Germany, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- China is committed to co-building and sharing a world with lasting peace and common security, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday.

Wang made the remarks in Bonn when speaking at the Group of Twenty (G20) session on how to achieve lasting peace in today's world.

Wang stressed China adheres to peaceful development and will act firmly as a builder and upholder of global lasting peace.

The United Nations came up with the concept of sustaining peace in 2015. China believes, Wang said, to ensure sustaining peace of the international community, firstly, the countries should abandon zero-sum thinking, establish a common, comprehensive, cooperation-based and sustainable security concept, and build relations under the principle of "partnership over alliance, dialogue over confrontation."

Secondly, Wang said, the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, especially those on respecting the sovereignty of all countries, peaceful settlement of disputes and non-intervention in domestic affairs, should be observed.

The system of collective security with the UN Security Council as the core, which is established by the UN Charter, is the guarantee for sustaining peace and should be unswervingly upheld, Wang added.

Thirdly, Wang proposed using comprehensive means to promote peace, citing conflict prevention, peacekeeping and rebuilding as the core elements. The countries concerned and related regional organizations should be consulted before a decision on intervention is made by the UN Security Council.

Peacekeeping and reconstruction efforts should be coordinated. Priority should be given to supporting capacity building of concerned countries, he added.

Fourthly, Wang said sustaining peace should be realized through inclusive cooperation. The UN can serve as a main channel providing an open and transparent platform, where countries can seek consensus through negotiation and complement each other, Wang said, adding that the groups like G20 can also dedicate their unique efforts.
