England captain Wayne Rooney is throwing cold water on speculation about a potential move here to China.

Rooney has issued a statement, saying he intends to stay with Manchester United.

The 31-year-old striker said he hoped to "play a full part" in the rest of the Premier League club's season.

There have been reports Rooney has been entertaining offers from a number of Chinese footbal clubs, with Beijing Guo'an and Guangzhou Evergrande said to be among those pressing hard for Rooney's services.

United boss Jose Mourinho had refused to rule out the prospect of a possible Rooney exit this month.

However, this would have meant a move to transfer Rooney before the end of the Premier League season, as the Chinese transfer window closes next week.

Rooney has won 5 Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy with Man-U since joining them as an 18-year-old.

Rooney, whose contract expires in 2019, is on-record saying he won't play for an English club other than United or Everton.
